MgSO4 . 7H2O ...............................................0.1 g 

Vishniac and Santer Trace Element Solution (see below).....2.0 ml 

KNO3 .......................................................0.1 g 

Distilled water............................................1.0 L 

Adjust final pH to 8.0-8.2. Autoclave at 121C for 15 min. 

To avoid precipitation, filter-sterilize broth. For agar prepare broth 2X, filter-sterilize and add aseptically to sterile 3% agar. 

Vishniac and Santer Trace Element Solution: 

EDTA..............................50.0 g 

ZnSO4 . 7H2O ......................22.0 g 

CaCl2..............................5.54 g 

MnCl2 . 4H2O .......................5.06 g 

FeSO4 . 7H2O .......................4.99 g 

(NH4)6Mo7O24 . 4H2O..................1.10 g 

CuSO4 . 5H2O .......................1.57 g 

CoCl2 . 6H2O .......................1.61 g 

Distilled water....................1.0 L 

Adjust pH to 6.0 with KOH.
